Children with special needs require more care and time than do children without these needs. Therefore, it can be tricky to manage the family around this. Children require much time and energy, regardless of special needs, and families sometimes suffer from a lack of communication due to the extra needs.

There are 4 types of autism including Asperger Syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, Rett syndrome and pervasive developmental disorder or PDD-NOS which includes atypical autism. There are studies that suggest that occurrence rates for these disorders is between 2 and 6 children per every thousand people or 1 in every 500 children.

Asperger syndrome is considered an autism spectrum disorder, and patients have difficult times with social interactions as well as behaviors. The difference between this and other autism spectrum disorders is that Asperger Syndrome allows for cognitive and linguistic development.
